Winner of the 2010 Sundance Grand Jury Prize and Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award, Debra Granik's Winter's Bone is not an easy film to define. A mixture of backwoods Southern Gothic, thriller, and crime mystery, the film was shot entirely on location in Southwestern Missouri and is rich in atmospheric details. The remarkable Jennifer Lawrence stars as Ree Dolly, a teenage girl who sets out to find her father after her family is threatened to be cast out into the Ozark wilderness.
